Central Park Recreational Facilities
(use of these facilities does not require the “Transfer of Membership” Card) In addition to the facilities which are available to guests at the Stoneybrook Recreational Campus, you will also find recreational facilities around the community which can be used without the need of a “Transfer Membership”. These are located within the 36 acres of Central Park, where families can enjoy themselves. The area has something for all ages, both children and adults alike. Even those guests who enjoy a little piece and quiet are able to enjoy a relaxing sit down in the shade in one of the picturesque Gazebos. Guests will find the following sections helpful on what Central Park has to offer. Beacon Lake - Fishing Lake with Pier
Heritage Harbour Community Wildlife
Beacon Lake is a 70 acre fishing lake with pier located at Central Park. Guests will find several different types of fish, namely, bass, catfish etc. It is a rule that no-one is allowed to fish around the lake other than from the fishing pier. It has been known for guests to see the resident alligator in this lake, toward the far end and away from the fishing pier.
If guests wish, they are also able to canoe on this lake. However, it maybe worth making enquiries through ourselves first if this is something you will be looking to do on your holiday / vacation. We will then be able to find out as much information for you as we can from the necessary personnel within the Heritage Harbour Community. Please don’t take it for granted that you can canoe on this lake any time within the day, as there could be restrictions dependant on the weather, time of year etc. Guests will also find sunrise and sunset a good time to enjoy this setting, especially during those warmer seasons within the year. Early morning or late afternoon are often the quieter times to enjoy fishing as it tends to be cooler and therefore the fish tend to come to the surface of the water in the lake, especially in the warmer weather. You will also find that the residents are very friendly in the area and will pass on some good tips in relation to fishing on the lake.
Whilst myself (Amanda Osborne) and my family were staying on Heritage Harbour we enjoyed a few separate half days fishing and managed to catch a number of fish between us (a picture of one of these fish is displayed opposite, just after we removed him from the fishing rod and before we placed him in his natural environment - the lake! All the fish we caught, we placed back into the lake). At the time we were informed of two great tips by a young lad who was a resident on Heritage Harbour. The fish located in this lake tend to come to the surface in the less warmer weather and if fishing in the warm weather it is best to fish from the bottom of the lake (ie. place good weights on the end of your fishing line) and secondly good bait to use is cooked chicken or steak fat.
We also urge our guests to be vigilant whilst in the vicinity of the lake and especially whilst walking, jogging, skating, cycling or even fishing etc. Guests must be aware that anywhere there is water ie. lakes, rivers etc. they may see the “Florida Alligator”. This is true! When myself (Amanda Osborne) and my family were fishing at Beacon Lake we sighted an alligator (pictured opposite). The Property Owners have also advised they too sighted an alligator whilst fishing at Beacon Lake, whilst on holiday / vacation. They reported it was smaller than the one opposite. PLEASE NEVER FEED THE WILDLIFE / WILD ANIMALS, PARTICULARLY ALLIGATORS.
This is also a natural habitat for local wildlife including, turtles, tortoises, herons, squirrels and much more. As well as seeing the various wildlife around Beacon Lake and the Heritage Harbour Community, you may also see the local resident wildlife as I did (Amanda Osborne), when my family and I have been staying Stone Harbour Loop, Willowbrook Circle and Kingsbury Place.
Independent Property Rental’s (IPR), IT / Web Designer, Ian Thompson also managed to photograph this lovely heron whilst he was in the USA photographing and producing the virtual tours for the properties. Walking, Jogging, Skating and Biking Trails
There is a nature trail around the Beacon Lake, where guests can enjoy a leisurely walk or jog. Also if guests have access to skates and / or bikes they can also enjoy the use of these on the paved area around the nature walking / jogging trail. Colourful Jungle Gym and Play Area
Something for our younger guests to enjoy (up to the age of around eight) is the colourful Jungle Gym and Play area. They can benefit from using child friendly climbing frames, swings, slides and much more and is much larger than the one featured at the Recreational Campus. When designing this area all safety features have been taken into account eg. soft flooring and child friendly equipment. For those supervising adults you will also find a number of benches around the park where you can sit and watch your children play and enjoy themselves. Soccer Field
For our more energetic guests you can enjoy a game of soccer. This area is floodlit and enables guests to utilise the facilities during both the day and evening. Baseball / Softball Diamonds
Occasionally guests will find organised games taking place during the week on the Baseball / Softball Diamonds. We believe guests are more than welcome to watch these games if they wish. Picnic Area
Central Park is an ideal location to enjoy a picnic especially if you have young children who enjoy preparing a picnic basket, ready to go out for the morning or afternoon. Guests will find the Colourful Jungle Gym and Play Area in this location, where young children can enjoy a leisurely play. For those adults and children who enjoy fishing Beacon Lake - Fishing Lake and Pier is also very close to the picnic location. Heritage Harbour Lighthouse and the Picturesque Gazebos
Before guests reach the security gates of Heritage Harbour you will discover Central Park. This can be found where you see the Central Park signature piece - “the lighthouse”. All facilities can be located along this road.
There are two car parks one located near the lighthouse and picturesque Gazebos and another located in the vicinity of the Colourful Jungle Gym and Play area and the Beacon Lake - Fishing Lake and Pier. Guests will find plenty of paved areas so they can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the lighthouse area before maybe relaxing in one of the picturesque Gazebos. Stoneybrook Golf Club and Restaurant
Heritage Harbour benefits from an on-site restaurant which is located in the Stoneybrook Golf Club. All our homes on Heritage Harbour are on average a 15 minute walk to the club and restaurant, therefore enabling guests if they wish to enjoy a beer or cocktail with their meal as they don’t need to drive. Stoneybrook Golf Club and Restaurant is a licensed establishment. Guests if they wish can obtain a copy of the restaurant's menu titled “Stoneybrook Golf Club Restaurant Menu” from our download section. Further details on the Stoneybrook Golf Course and other golf courses in the vicinity / area can be found by clicking the “Golf Section” on the left-hand menu. |
